About
Eucerin Aquaphor Soothing Skin Balm
Our skin works hard to protect our bodies, but sometimes it can become very dry, cracked and irritated as a result. It needs SOS care.
Eucerin Aquaphor Soothing Skin Balm gives dry to very dry, cracked and irritated skin the SOS care that it needs. The water-free ointment forms a gentle, semi-occlusive, protective barrier over the skin that supports the natural transfer of water vapour and oxygen to and from the skin, allowing the skin to ‘breathe’ and strengthening its natural protective barrier. The balm is enriched with Glycerin and Panthenol. Glycerin is an effective moisturiser that attracts water and helps to keep it in the skin. It works alongside Panthenol which helps to speed up regeneration and repair while also moisturising skin.
Fragrance- and preservative-free, Eucerin Aquaphor Soothing Skin Balm has been clinically and dermatologically proven to repair very dry, cracked and irritated skin.
The soothing, transparent ointment is easy to apply and massages gently into problem areas of skin such as the knees and elbows, cracked knuckles and cuticles and cracked heels. With only a few ingredients, it is well tolerated by sensitive skin and is suitable for use on babies and children as well as on minor burns and on skin after superficial dermatological procedures such as laser treatments and chemical peels(1). Skin is regenerated, protected and repaired.
(1) Eucerin Aquaphor Soothing Skin Balm should only be used on re-epithelialized skin (i.e. once new tissue has formed) and not on open, wet or bleeding wounds. Ask your Dermatologist for advice on how long you should wait after treatment before using the product.

Panthenol and Dexpanthenol are two names commonly used for the same ingredient. Panthenol participates in numerous metabolic processes (e.g. energy production, synthesis of fatty acids) and helps to improve hydration in the outermost layers of the skin. Panthenol converts into Panthotenic Acid (a B-Complex Vitamin) in the skin and enhances skin regeneration and repair. When applied regularly, it has been proven to considerably improve symptoms of skin irritation such as dryness, roughness, scaling and redness. It is also an effective moisturizer. Very well absorbed by the skin, it regenerates, stimulates epithelialisation and wound healing. It alleviates irritation and inflammation.
Glycerin – sometimes spelt `Glycerine` and also known as Glycerol – is a humectant which means it helps attract water and keep it in the skin. It is a very effective moisturizer that smooths dry skin and gives it long-lasting moisturization and care. It is both colorless and odorless.
Naturally occurring in chamomile and other plants, Bisabolol can also be derived synthetically. It has anti-irritant and anti-inflammatory properties and has been used in skincare for many years.
How often should I apply Eucerin Aquaphor Soothing Skin Balm?
You can apply Eucerin Aquaphor Soothing Skin Balm as often as you like to soothe and smooth areas of irritated or cracked skin. The handy 7ml jar and the 45ml tube make it easy to pop in your bag and carry around with you wherever you go.
Can I use Eucerin Aquaphor Soothing Skin Balm to care for wounds?
Yes, but the product should not be applied to open, bleeding or wet wounds. Wait until new tissue has formed (the medical term for this is re-epithelialisation) before applying the ointment. If you are in any way concerned about the time a wound is taking to heal, or think it may have become infected, consult your doctor for advice.
Once re-epithelialisation has occurred, Eucerin Aquaphor Soothing Skin Balm creates a protective barrier to support the skin regeneration and is clinically and dermatologically proven to protect and soothe dry, cracked or irritated skin.
Is Eucerin Aquaphor Soothing Skin Balm suitable for use on my baby’s skin?
Yes, the ointment is ideal for use on patches of dry skin on your baby’s face or in the nappy area. It only contains a few gentle but effective ingredients and is fragrance- and preservative-free, and so is suitable for your baby’s sensitive skin.
