What is hydrogenated castor oil?
This is a combination of polyethylene glycol and hydrogenated castor oil. Mixing castor oil with hydrogen makes the formulation more stable and raises its melting point.
Also called PEG-40 hydrogenated castor oil, this ingredient functions as an emulsifier, a surfacant, a cleansing agent and a fragrance ingredient.What does hydrogenated castor oil do?
PEG-40 hydrogenated castor oil enhances viscosity control and supports the maintenance of a healthy skin. It's ideal for dry, itchy and irritable skin, which is why it can be found in our AtoControl Body Care Lotion. This is specifically formulated to soothe irritated and itchy skin. PEG 40 hydrogenated castor oil soothes and moistures the skin by creating a protective layer on the skin’s surface, “locking” the moisture in the skin.
It also helps remove the grease from oils, causing them to become suspended in the liquid so they are easier to wash away.
