What is salicylic acid?
Salicylic acid is an antibacterial ingredient and a beta hydroxy acid. This acts keratolytically (meaning it removes dead skin cells, softening skin to help prevent blocked pores) and comedolytically (opening up clogged pores).
What does salicylic acid do?
Salicylic acid reduces blemishes and prevents the build-up of new ones. It's particularly effective at fighting blocked pores and bacterial growth, which is why it's a key ingredient in several of the Eucerin DermoPurifyer Oil Control formulas.
How to use salicylic acid
While salicylic acid promotes exfoliation, it's ideal for treating blackheads and whiteheads because of its antibacterial activity.
Salicylic acid can also be used in a targeted way in the DermoPurifyer Triple Effect Serum to effectively reduce blemishes.
How long does salicylic acid take to work?
You may notice some fast results as salicylic acid helps dry out pimples. However it usually takes between four to eight weeks to start noticing the benefits of using salicylic acid.
Is it safe to use salicylic acid every day?
It is safe to use products with salicylic acid every day, unless your doctor says not to. Overuse can cause dry skin for those with sensitive skin.
